Nimbus Software Ltd can trace its roots back to the very beginning of the New
Zealand computer era. Microcomputer Systems Limited (MSL), the foundation
company formed in 1975, was one of the first computer software companies
established in New Zealand. Company founders Bill Irwin and Graham Kemble-Welch
recognised the potential for microcomputer-based business systems.
In 1983 Microcomputer Systems Limited launched Nimbus Accounting
software, a complete accounting system specialising in Job Costing and
Management for clients in the Service Industry. Nimbus Software Ltd enjoyed
immediate success and was soon established as an industry leader in providing
job and task management software.
To build on the success of the Nimbus software products and to assist the
software to realise its potential, Nimbus Accounting was separated from
MSL and was established as an independent company within the MSL group in August
1997. Nimbus Software Limited has since set out to become the best
business systems solutions provider in New Zealand – and then beyond.
Nimbus Software Ltd has evolved from an accounting software provider to a
development and solution company committed to delivering complete business
solutions. The focus remains on Contracting and Service Industries but it
provides an open system that encompasses the wider IT environment. Third party
developers will consider Nimbus SQL as a quality foundation product to their
vertical market opportunities.
