Licence and Version Upgrade Policy
Nimbus has a responsibility to ensure that the software provided is properly
maintained so as to remove errors and faults (bugs) as they are discovered.
In addition it is committed to continually enhancing Nimbus software
applications to keep up with ever-changing business procedures, Government
requirements and to take advantage of new computer technology and standards as
they evolve and impact on business. The following is an extract from the
Nimbus Software Licence and Maintenance Agreement:
"The Licensor warrants to the Licensee that the Software as delivered and
properly installed in the Designated Company will conform substantially to the
current published documentation. The Licensee acknowledges, however, that the
Software is of such complexity that it may have inherent or latent defects and
agrees that as Licensee’s sole remedy Licensor will exercise their best efforts
to correct documented program errors (bugs) which Licensor’s analysis indicates
are caused by a defect in the unaltered version of the delivered Software."
In effect what this
means is that the original software is continually revised and improved upon.
The result of which, over a period of time, is that the software used by the
client is constantly renewed. All Nimbus software users benefit from
maintaining their software through patches as well as version upgrades, so that
a client that licensed their software some years ago has the same new
software as the client that just signed up.
This software maintenance and replacement plan provides
outstanding value to clients as they can take full advantage of improved product
while constantly depreciating the original investment.
There is a small financial
cost of maintaining this improved product in addition to the labour costs
associated with installing the occasional patches and versions that occur
approximately every 18 months.
The Nimbus Licence and Upgrade Policy gives
clients improved return on investment and security with the knowledge that the
system will be maintained and enhanced so that the value of the company asset
(and the company knowledge associated with its use) is extended over many years.
