Business Systems Consultant – Junior

New ownership in early 2018 by JDM Technology Group has meant a significant change in our organization with the opportunity to leverage exciting new technologies for our customers from the wider group.  

This has opened the door for a junior business consultant to be part of our team moving forward in this exciting time.  We need someone who is organised, enthusiastic, self-motivated and can work collaboratively (and independently) to support our consultants in delivering exceptional solutions.  Ideally you may be a graduate of the Bachelor of Information Technology majoring in Information Systems, or someone who has a few years’ experience as a Systems Consultant.

As a junior consultant you may work with clients from initial contact, analysing and scoping requirements, through to design, implementation (including documentation and training) along with proactively keeping them abreast of product enhancements and new opportunities.

This position is never static, you can expect to be continually stimulated with new releases and thought-provoking requests from our clients and team members alike; keeping your mind active and your interest high.  Training is available to ensure key areas are well covered.

This position is based in sunny Nelson, where the majority of the team are located and although our services are predominately completed by remote access, some travel may be required throughout NZ.

Nimbus software is a SQL Server database, with a web user interface and some legacy VB apps that are to be upgraded in the near future utilising web technology.

We are seeking a well-rounded person that would have a good mix of the following skills and attributes:

Technical Skills

  • SQL Scripting and SQL Reporting Services skills
  • Network/SQL server/environmental skills and knowledge
  • Strong Understanding of Database Management and table design
  • HTML knowledge
  • XML knowledge
  • A broad knowledge of Accounting /Business Administration


  • Self-motivated and enjoy working independently, while being part of a team
  • Desire to learn and be challenged
  • A confident and outgoing working style
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Reliable, organised, trustworthy and have a sense of humour

Ideally the successful candidate will have a strong technical interest/knowledge of database structure, be process orientated and good at identifying solutions.
